Mama Tried Vt is an all-gal foot stomping bluegrass, country folk and blues string band from Vermont. We have been playing together since 2022.
Rebecca Padula - She performs solo as a singer-songwriter and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and with a host of other projects. She has a BA in Fine Arts/Music and Journalism from St. Michael's College, has released 3 independent solo albums, and also appears as a guest artist on albums by Vermont artists: Carol Abair, Will Lindner, George Nostrand and Rik Palieri.
Linda Kallinger started playing the violin at age seven. In 2007, she left the world of classical music for bluegrass and Irish music and never looked back. She has a degree in Landscape Horticulture and worked many years as a landscape designer, although her later career was working with several violin shops coordinating the rental program for school children. She lives in South Burlington with her wife, Wendy, and her dog, Atticus.
Clare Innes - “Ukulele Clare” Innes has shared the joy of making music with hundreds of ukulele students and audiences in camp fires, concert halls, coffeeshops, libraries, adult ed classes, roadsides, restaurants, breweries … and even the Ticonderoga Steamboat at the Shelburne Museum. Clare also writes songs and plays the harmonica and Dobro, kazoo (of course!), washboard necktie, and plays a mean set of spoons. Her teaching and performance musical style embraces Americana, spanning many genres, listing heavily towards bluegrass, folk, country, and old jazz favorites.
Kathy Mulligan started playing in a guitar circle which evolved into her first band called the Front Porch Foursome. She currently plays upright bass with a blue grass band called Switchel, as well as Mama Tried for the last 2 years.
